About the event

Dr. Alan Crandall graduated from the University of Utah, receiving his medical degree from the University Of Utah School Of Medicine. He completed his internship in surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center as well as his residency and fellowship in ophthalmology at the Scheie Eye Institute, University of Pennsylvania. He joined the University of Utah Ophthalmology Department in 1981.

As Senior Medical Director of the Moran Global Outreach Division, Dr. Crandall is passionate about and deeply committed to eliminating the overwhelming burden of curable blindness in the most underserved, neglected and impoverished regions of the world. Dr. Crandall started his humanitarian work in Ghana in 1996 and has since traveled to more than 25 countries, including Russia, India, the Federated States of Micronesia, rural Guatemala and Haiti teaching cataract and glaucoma surgery to the most promising ophthalmologist in those countries.
